Snow service is judged almost entirely on communication. The plowing itself is not complicated. What makes people furious is not knowing whether anyone is coming, watching neighbors get cleared while their own driveway sits, and being unable to reach the company that took their deposit in October.
How we handle a storm
- You hear from us before it starts. When we expect to be there and roughly what to expect from the storm.
- A trigger depth agreed in advance, in writing, so there is never a debate about whether a two-inch storm counted.
- A clear route order. Commercial and any medical-access properties first, then residential.
- You hear from us if we are running behind. In a genuinely large storm everyone runs behind — the difference is whether you are told.
What we clear
- Driveways, including a proper cut at the apron so the township plow does not immediately wall you back in.
- Walkways, front steps and porches — shoveled and treated, not merely bladed past.
- Commercial lots, access aisles and fire lanes.
- Ice treatment: salt, or calcium chloride when it is cold enough that plain salt stops working, which in this county happens most winters.
Salt and your landscape
Rock salt is hard on the things next to it. The brown, dead strip along driveway and walkway edges that shows up every March is nearly always salt damage, not winter kill, and repeated seasons of it will take out foundation shrubs and compact the soil beneath.
We apply what is needed for safety and no more, and we will use gentler products where you have plantings you care about right at the edge. If your beds already show damage, spring is the time to flush those soils, and we can fold that into the spring cleanup.
Book before the season
Snow routes have to be built geographically to work at all, so we take a limited number of properties in each part of the service area, and each route closes once it is full. Contracts are agreed to before winter, not negotiated during the first storm. If we cannot take you, we will say so in October rather than not answering in January.

Common questions
What depth do you come out at?
Whatever we agree on in writing before the season — typically two or three inches for residential. Setting it in advance is what stops the argument later.
Do you do seasonal contracts or per-storm?
Both. Seasonal is predictable for budgeting and gets priority in the route; per-storm suits people who only want service in a bad winter.
How soon after the snow stops will you be there?
It depends on the size of the storm and where you sit on the route, and we will tell you honestly rather than promising an hour we cannot hold. In a large storm we make multiple passes.
Do you shovel walks and steps?
Yes, if it is in your agreement. Read that carefully with any company — plenty of cheap driveway quotes quietly exclude the walk to your front door.
What about the pile the township plow leaves at the end of my driveway?
We cut the apron when we clear. If the township comes back through after us, that is exactly the sort of thing to call us about.
